Gray AES is looking to add a Automations Engineering Intern for Summer 2025 to our Lexington, KY office.

Qualifications

Who we want… (Requirements)

  • Applicable candidates should have completed or in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science, or relevant experience in industrial automation.
  • Ideal candidates have previous exposure to programming environments including those for computer systems, HMIs, or PLCs.
  •  Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail applications.
  • Candidate must be an energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment, as well as a passion for collaboration and professional development. If you are a high achiever striving to exceed expectations in a fast-paced innovative company, then Gray is the place for you.
  • Must be willing and able to wear standard personal protective equipment and comply with customer good manufacturing practices.
  • Travel is a regular expectation of this role and depends upon the location of projects and customers, the stage of project execution, and team members role.

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

  • Develop well-documented and flexible PLC code in a standard programming language based on existing examples and under the direction of others.
  • Design and develop HMIs that are professional looking and clean based on existing examples and under the direction of others.
  • Work with other team members, partners, or customers as needed to share design and development responsibilities to deliver successful projects.
  • Develop solutions to support testing and commissioning activities as required by customers and partners based on existing examples and under the direction of others.
  • Participate in on-site commissioning support as required.
  • Assist team members with various duties assigned.
  • Update various records, files and procedures, as assigned.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

 

Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.
