Who we want… (Requirements)

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience; or a degree from a four-year college or university or a degree from a technical college and minimum of ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in architectural design software (AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam) and business software. May require knowledge of applications specific to the project assigned.
  • Experience designing in Revit is highly preferred and experience producing architectural drawings is required.
  • The selected candidate will have excellent organization, communication, interpersonal, and team coordination skills.

Qualifications

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

  • Serve as a primary liaison between the Project Team, partner build-design company, and consultants to ensure seamless coordination and goal alignment across disciplines.
  • Champion clear and consistent communication while fostering strong, collaborative relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and mentor architectural and design staff, promoting a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous professional growth.
  • Develop and support technical proposals, design schedules, and cost estimates with a focus on feasibility and alignment with Customer expectations.
  • Partner with the Gray AES Project Manager(s) to:
    o Define roles and responsibilities and ensure shared ownership of project deliverables.
    o Monitor project budgets, scope, and execution, ensuring timely design adjustments as needed.
    o Support and implement change management strategies, track design impacts on schedule and cost, and advocate for architectural priorities.
    o Promote cross-functional integration and maintain alignment with broader project goals in partnership with the build-design counterpart.
    o Assess project risks and proactively incorporate mitigation strategies into the design process.
  • Review and oversee design proposal criteria and contribute to the preparation of detailed technical proposal documents.
  • Conduct research on design strategies, building codes, and regulatory requirements to drive technical excellence.
  • Consults with Customer to determine functional and spatial requirements and prepare and present integrated architectural and engineering design layouts that reflect a holistic, multidisciplinary approach.
  • Lead quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) efforts for design documentation across all disciplines and consultants.
  • Prepare and submit design documents to Authority Having Jurisdiction, including identification of submission requirements and coordination of responses.
  • Maintain adherence to company and industry standards, procedures, and best practices throughout all project phases.
  • Review and provide input, coordination and oversight on deliverables produced by Assistant Design Managers and Architectural Technicians, as well as deliverables produced by other design disciplines, including sub-consultants, and design-build subcontractors.
  • Responsible for the technical accuracy and completeness of Architectural design, and coordination with other design disciplines.Support construction administration tasks, including submittal reviews, RFI’s, site observations and monitoring special inspections.
  • Participate in business development and marketing initiatives, including:
    o Attending customer meetings and presentations.
    o Representing Gray at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required. Travel required.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for supervising team members such as Architectural Technicians and Assistant Design Managers on various sized projects. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training team members, planning, assigning, and directing work; providing input for appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
